I’m about to start day two of ArtFest here in Port Townsend, Washington. Yesterday was the art of juxtaposition with Sas Colby. I created a very interesting assemblage with a piece of tin and a neck-like bark piece and a crow… pictures to come. We did a journaling exercise with our found objects that helped the piece come together in that truly amazing way of the unconscious speaking directly to you — it is a writing exercise similar to one I do at the Writer’s Spa the first day to get everyone dipping into their projects but I had never thought to do with my art materials.
Speaking of spas and such, I must confess that I forgot to pick a winner for the Creativity Day Spa before I left… so you will have to wait, with bated breath, to see if you won, until Sunday early am. In the meantime, let me just say that so much of what I am experiencing with own creative life is going to be bubbling and swirling into these day spas, and into all the retreats, so please consider coming and playing with me.
Today I’m off to learn with Anne Grgich in a class called Landscapes of the Mind. So far, I’m loving ArtFest and haven’t even thought about the art police.
