About the Comfort Café and Life Spa
The Comfort Cafe is amazing – just like seeing a group of amazing friends in a bistro who surround you with love and joy just because you are who you are. What a unique gift you have to bring people together in a community of acceptance and wackiness.” Heidi M.
The Comfort Café has provided me with solid tools that calm me, nourish me, and help me make my dreams come true. The things I learned this year like self-trust and simple action have changed my life!” Nay Nay
Back in the 50s, we were supposed to be loving mothers and good housekeepers.
Around the 70s, we were also supposed to excel at a career. We became power workers. We wore high heels and buttoned jackets. We worked hard to be heard in the boardroom.
In the 80s, the health and fitness craze took off. Organic foods, ideal heart rates, body mass indexes, exercise videos. They even changed the food pyramid on us.
It’s the 21st century now. The latest demand on women is being able to do it all with a peaceful, enlightened smile on our faces. We’re supposed to be “balanced”. We’re supposed to be calm and composed.
Oh, and we’re supposed to just know how to be that way, too.
Well, you know what? Nobody does.
Nobody knows how to be Martha Stewart and Jane Fonda and Oprah Winfrey, all rolled into one woman. Oh, and don’t forget the Dalai Lama, too.
You can’t be everyone’s caretaker and take care of yourself, too. You’re being pulled in six different directions every hour of the day and there’s no end in sight.
You wonder, how do I create a life I like living – especially when my life is constantly changing?
How do live in this modern world and not go crazy?
And, by the by, how do I express this longing that lies within me and share the longing with the world (that whole authentic self thing)?
If you feel alone and confused in how you can create a life you love living – a life based on intention and integrity and self-kindness – that aloneness ends here.
No more. That destructive cycle ends here.
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
You can’t actually do it alone.
In a world where it is very easy to put yourself last (especially if you have that tendency like I do), it is nice to have some structure and kind, loving reminders to nudge you in the right direction when you are off track. That is what Jennifer Louden and the Comfort Café do for me. Thank you!” Kristin Swanson
In 1992, I published The Woman’s Comfort Book, and hundreds of thousands of women since have thanked me for it. They all felt like there was too much to do and no time to do it in.
They felt judged and helpless. They felt angry and hurt. They felt alone.
I knew they weren’t alone. I was hearing many of the same stories, and I knew these women could help one another.
I created the Comfort Café and Life Spa so women who seek support could find it in one another.
Welcome to The Comfort Café!
The intention of the Cafe is to give you the support, tools, reminders, and above all, love, so you can:
Focus on what matters most to you day-by-day
…as in, remember it, take action toward it, make progress on it without ever overwhelming yourself.
Nurture yourself totally
…as in, believing with your whole being that you can have, fundamentally, what you really want.
Love
…as in love yourself, accept yourself and be yourself. (And how to not make that sound trite is one of my goals in life!)
Listen
…to your own aunthetic voice and share that voice with the world.
And do this without going crazy and burning out! Maybe while even having some fun!
The Comfort Café is…
It’s a sanctuary designed to help you figure out what’s most important for you – and then remember it. You’ll get constant tools and ideas that you can use to:
- Manage overwhelm
- Maintain your confidence in yourself even in times of stress and change
- Take care of yourself without breaking the bank
- Take care of yourself without feeling guilty or silly or selfish for doing it
- Reach out to other people for support, even if you’ve been afraid to do so in the past
- Feel safe, loved, secure in yourself, and yes – happy.
Sounds impossible, right? It really isn’t. The Café is full of women who want to help, nurture, support, and inspire you to take control of your life.
When you join the Comfort Café and Life Spa, you won’t be taking on a new job. You’ll be joining a community of women who want to help you feel good about your life and yourself. That includes all the pitfalls, the rocky patches, and even the failures.
No judgments. No reservations. Just the tools you need to create your own happiness.
What Do I Get When I Join the Comfort Café and Life Spa?
What a great place you’ve grown here for strong women searching for more support on their journeys. I’ve followed you with fondness over the years because of how much I loved your energy back when your first book came out. You have done so much in such a short while. I love the voices I’m hearing here.” Cathy S. Portland, OR.
More than you can imagine. In the monthly calls, the personal emails, the journal prompts and the forums, I’ll be sending you suggestions, ideas, tools, and rituals to help you discover your true self, take care of your over-taxed mind and body, and keep sight of what’s truly important in your life.
Keeping self-care and comfort in front of you at all times brings you to a startling new realization: Your life isn’t a burden. It’s a gift.
Membership in the Comfort Café gives you access to powerful, yet gentle, ways to dissolve fear and overwhelm. You’ll start creating a life you love right away – and have fun doing it!
When you join the Comfort Café, here’s what you’ll receive:
- On the first of each month, I greet you with a short video. I introduce the month’s theme (past themes have included self-trust, rest, simple action, inspiration, and more) and give you quick and easy ways to use the theme to enhance your life. Members love my energy and inspiration (go figure!)
- Call with a Very Wise Person. The first week of the month, I tap a Very Wise Person on the shoulder to explore the monthly theme with us. We’ll learn quick, practical ways to create more balance and aliveness. During the call, you can ask questions and get answers to your biggest challenges. Past experts have included Cheryl Richardson, Jill Badonsky, Patti Digh, and Keri Smith, while 2010 will include Laura Berman Fortgang, Abby Seixas, Susan Piver, Sofia Diaz, Todd Kasdan and who knows who else I’ll call on!
- The Not-Quite-Daily Dollop of Inspiration. Members’ favorites! The Dollops are bite-sized bits of wisdom that provide short, doable suggestions for eliminating stress and improving life satisfaction. I use a number of simple yet powerful tools to keep centering and refreshing you – without ever overwhelming you. These come right to you 3-5 times a week via e-mail.
- Live Coaching Call with Jen – Mid-month you get a pick-me-up to help you deepen and remember what you’re working to create this month. Ask questions about the month’s theme, revisit ideas from the call with our Very Wise Person, or get coaching on whatever’s top-of-mind for you. (This call alone is worth $325, given my current coaching rates and heavily booked schedule.)
- Weekly Life Organizer Questions. Drawn from my popular book The Life Organizer but customized to the month’s theme, these questions come to you via e-mail on Sundays to help you focus your week and determine where you’d like to devote your energy. I answer them myself on the forums each week and you will also love reading everyone’s responses – powerfully comforting and motivating.
- Tools to Guide Your Life By. You’ll find my simple innovative tools like intention, desire, life insights, gratitude, focusing on the good, tracking what is working, shadow comforts, and more will help you take effective action to live in this modern world without losing your mind. You’ll feel held and supported in remembering and acting on what’s most important to you – and letting go of what is not (yeah!!)
- Super Duper Loving Forums. If you need a little extra real-time support, a fantastic group of loving, smart women hang out on the Comfort Queen forums and would love to welcome you. I pop in to offer feedback and perspective, and take questions. Lots of women aren’t forum people and that’s totally cool. No pressure! Like all the goodies at the Cafe, there is no guilt – use what you wish, leave the rest for another time. It’s all archived and searchable!
Your membership also gives you:
- Discounted Prices on Virtual Retreats, Coaching and Products. Our members receive regular discounts of up to 50% off Comfort Queen products and services, and personalized coaching with Jen.
- Giveaways like books by our Very Wise People, discounts on their merchandise, and more! I try to offer a giveaway every month.
- Extra Surprises. Just as with the Dollop of Inspiration, extra bonuses will magically appear to delight you unexpectedly!
I Can’t Keep Up With All That!
I can not express how much I’ve gotten out of the Comfort Cafe since it started. I’ve always been a big fan of your books, but this is beyond powerful. It’s one thing to read a chapter about self-trust in a book — it’s an entirely different thing to participate in a live workshop, to discuss the topic in the forums, to hear conversations between Jen and other experts, to get the chance to ask you questions. I can’t imagine giving up my Comfort Cafe addiction. Seriously, Jennifer, I can’t thank you enough for creating the Comfort Cafe.” Rachel G.
I offer you a lot of tools, and yes, some of them require a bit of time. Not to worry, though – the Comfort Café isn’t meant to add more stress to your life. It’s designed to take it away.
I promise everything about the Cafe is being created to support you, not to be a burden or an additional have-to to your life.
- You can listen to the workshops at any time. We provide MP3 files of both calls for download. Whenever you’re ready to listen and contemplate, you can. Same goes for our meditations and audio files. We provide support for how to download so you won’t feel frustrated if you aren’t very technical!
- The Comfort Finder (March 15th) offers tidbits of inspiration and helpful suggestions so you can get right to the heart of what you need.
- Our calls are long enough to get a lot of information in, but everything else – messages, meditations, tools, tips – are brief. We know you’re trying to incorporate this into your busy life.
- Our forums are open 24/7. The best part about a forum is that there is no timetable. Whenever you want to sign in, read, browse other people’s thoughts, ask questions, or learn something new, you can. You can do it for five minutes or for an hour. You can choose not to write anything at all, and simply listen and learn.
- You choose which suggestions and ideas you want to try. We’ll be sending lots of tips and suggestions for incorporating self-care into your life. Much as we love bringing a community together, we know every woman is an individual. Some of our suggestions will work for you; some won’t. You needn’t feel obligated to try every little thing we send you.
The Hopefully-Fits-Your-Budget Price Tag
The Comfort Café and Life Spa is available to you for just $19 a month.
Here’s where I could blab on about how much coaches and teachers with a fraction of my 19 years experience are charging $27, $89 or even $200 dollars a month and only offering only a fraction of what I am offering.
But you know what?
I don’t care. What I care about is does The Comfort Cafe sound right for you?
Does having centering reminders and bite-sized learning and loving support and huge heart energy coming at you to help you thrive in the midst of all the change you are going through sound good?
Would you benefit from some help, from feeling less alone, from being reminded of your own strengths and resources and wisdom?
This is my heart project and I only want you to join if it something you will use and benefit from.
Give Yourself Permission to Do Something Good for You
Jennifer….it does spill into life. I am kinder to myself and others when I check into the cafe on a regular basis. Its whole ethos of acceptance just warms my soul. THANK YOU to you Jen for being such a great human facilitator and to each and every one of you! Polly
When your next birthday rolls around, how do you want to feel about where your life is heading? You may have a fantastic career, a loving family, and good health – or maybe those things are still eluding you. No matter where you are in life, ask yourself one critical question:
Are you happy?
Many of us aren’t. We feel we should be. We did everything right, didn’t we? We accomplished all the things we were supposed to accomplish. So why do we feel like there’s something missing?
The simple answer is the right one: because something is missing.
That something is taking care of you.
Listening to your desires.
And then taking effective action.
We constantly feel that others need our time, support, and attention. We feel guilty about taking time for ourselves and we’re afraid something terrible will happen if we take just one minute to breathe.
Give yourself permission to breathe. To take action on your own behalf.
I promise that everything you care about in your life will only benefit from it.
At the Comfort Café, we’ve created a sanctuary so you never need to feel guilty here, because we’re all in this together, and we all know how important self-care has become in our own lives.
We’re the place without judgment, the place where no one can hurt you, where you can try and fail and try again and never be ashamed of it.
By the time you’ve been with us for a little while, you’ll be awakening to a simple truth about yourself.
