Double Duh! You all haven’t been commenting as much because after I got spammed, I made it too hard. I changed the settings on commenting – see if it makes it easier. I’m sorry for any over zealousness on my part.
Last comment question: is it easier for you if I comment to comments in the comment section (say that three times really fast) or in a new post? Any blog experts out there?

Either way is fine by me!

We have been showered by spam, too, and I can understand how you feel. But I miss the interaction and some times it can put people off. I hope it will be easier now.
Blogging etiquette says there are two ways of answering. One is to e-mail the person with an answer or a comment to their comment, particularly if you feel you have to tell them something of a more private nature, or you wish to follow up on a specific topic. The other way is to comment in the comments section yourself, , following visitors’ comments. You may start with an initial comment of general interest, or an acknowledgemement, then offer a few lines starting with each person’e name, e.g. “Cindy, I think…”.
Happy blogging!

Dear Irene,
Thanks for telling me how to do comments! Now, if i want to reply to someone personally, how do I do that? If I hit reply, it goes to Typepad…

I can only speak for myself, but I never check back on a post to see if the author as responded to comments. (I read hundreds of blogs and can barely read the posts once, let alone twice.) So if I leave a question in the comments (and it’s rare that I do–if I have a question, I typically email the person), then if the author feels like responding, I would hope it would be via email. (I’ve had post authors email me with an answer and then add that they also put a response in the comments but know that some don’t check back there.) I’m surprised that your reply emails are going to TypePad. I use TypePad and when I hit reply on comments it automatically puts the person’s email address (if they’ve provided it) into the TO box. Nice that you’ve taken off the Typekey restriction. I refuse to use Typekey…it’s never worked properly for me.
