I’m Taos bound! On the ferry–it’s a cool, overcast day. Leaving my beloved Northwest for the wide open skies of New Mexico and the wide open hearts of the women writers converging on the homestead, stomping ground of genius and nest of nurturing creativity, the Mabel Dodge Luhan house.
It’s been such an intense few weeks – between my personal spiritual pops and finishing the book and concern about Dad’s health and Lilly flying away and Chris getting ready to travel for so long… What I’m so grateful for is my pretty consistent ability to center myself in my heart and listen (to do what I’ve written about in the new book) in the cracks of time that open here and there. I can’t believe what a difference it makes.
I brought art making stuff with me so I can create here and there and also visual prompts for our first writing day — this art making stuff creeps in everywhere!
As I’ve been thinking about what I want to impart and inspire in these amazing women I have the honor of writing with and being with this coming week, what has come to me is: listening to your heart as your guidance to create; truly using the time on retreat as a retreat — gently playing with all yours habits of thinking, eating, sleeping, observing – destabilizing the system so something new can emerge; creating from the deep knowing that you are utterly and completely loved and utterly and completely okay.

Will you be blogging from Taos? If so, wondered if you’d be willing to share a little slice of Taos retreat with those of us who can only be with you and Suzanne in spirit. If you might be willing to share with us a one-sentence (or one-word) prompt…a trigger for release that might be coming up for you and/or the participants while you’re there…

Have a wonderful time in Taos! I know all of us from the Taos Writer’s Spa class of 2005 will be thinking of you and Suzanne this coming week and wishing we were with you again in that magical place on the mesa. Waaaaaaaaaah! Do blog from Taos if you can.

How I wish I were coming with you! Last year’s Spa was so great for me. I walked every day, wrote every day, did yoga every day, spent time with wonderful women. What an ideal life! I felt so good mentally, physically, and spiritually when it was over. Wish I could/would retain that through the rest of my days. This year has been so hectic! I need You and Suzanne and wonderful Taos!!!!
