Peace be with you on this week of independence.
In honor of our freedom, check out this power-packed resource for all of us who want to help girls be powerfully free and teach them about self-care and self-compassion. It never fails to stun me how warped our culture continues to be about women and how girls internalize that warped double standard… it is so linked to our ability to create lives that fit us, and our ability to create a more fair and just world.
Speaking of creating our lives, please consider attending an October LOCAL retreat with me and musicial muse Maria K!
For a role model of someone who is creating a great life, spend some time in Italy with Paula Russel (she wrote the Instant Soothers for three years at Comfort Queen) as she shares her dream of taking women to Italy: Artful Tour of Florence and Venice. Join her first venture and save $500.00 off the future price–but more importantly, Paula has to be the most informed and full -of-energy guide you could possibly find. I know a couple of readers have signed on to go!
Want a little comfort queen hit? Visit here and scroll down to download a radio show with me…
Life here in my little hacienda has been gilded with a post-retreat miasma (I usually feel a mixture of sadness and gratitude after teaching), house guests, and political outrage over Bush’s Libby half-pardon bull. I wish political angst burned calories, I’d be very thin these days.
Wishing you reflections on what freedom means to you and how you choose to be free (and how you don’t) tomorrow and everyday.

When are you going to do a retreat anywhere in Europe?
Let us open up, seek, work for and accept Freedom!

There’s a great organization called The Women & Girls Foundation in PA doing amazing work. I can vision them as a model for something that can be done around the world. Their site are: http://wgfpa.org and http://girl2girlgrants.com
They’ve recently been doing work in equal pay rally, trying to get more women appointed to boards and local councils with an eye toward seeing more women progress toward political office, and their girls grant group led the “Girlcott” against Abercrombie & Fitch — and some of the groups who won the grants from that program are doing such interesting things!!
Thanks for all the great links, Jennifer! One day I will actually get to one of your retreats and thank you in person!
