Darling, the party has moved! After 10+ years and so many breath-taking adventures, I've laid down my crown and picked up...the Savor & Serve Experiment. Come see what it is.

The Mystery

Played pick up soccer with my daughter’s teammates and various parents- in a bold move I scored – but in the other team’s goal.

Oop.s

Soccer may not be my sport.

Then I went for a walk with the dog,  listening to Van Morrison on my I-pod:

"Let go into the mystery
Let yourself go
You got to open up your heart
That’s all I know
Trust what I say and do what you’re told
Then maybe all your dirt needs to turn into gold
Let go into the mystery."

And on that last line, I looked up to see Mount Rainer out in her full snowy volcano glory… always a startling sight.  I’d never seen it from this particular spot… all around me families were playing soccer and Frisbee and the sun was (sort of) out and Luna was frisking through the long grass and I thought "Let go into the mystery.  Open your arms.  Get over yourself."

Better, huh!

We can all periodically use the reminder: “get over yourself.” :) Hope you’re having a lovely day with your family. Happy Thanksgiving.

Jennifer: Your writing about your retreat couldn’t have come at a better time. I am leaving tonight for a long weekend retreat alone and I am scared to death. I plan to write and think and sleep and walk … what is scary about that? Can I do it? Will I do it? It helped to see what you accomplished; I loved your list of hard things and simple things. I’ve printed this post and plan to take it with me. Thanks!
