The Not Quite So Daily Dollop

Today’s Dollop was inspired by reading Krista Tippet’s online journal about her interview with Quaker author and educator, Parker Palmer. Krista shared some questions that Palmer’s psychiatrist asked him when he was depressed. I’ve changed the questions a bit to reflect the wider experience many of us are having around uncertainty and holiday stress.

Could you imagine your _______ (fill in the emotion: fear, rushing, anxiety, overwhelm, stuckness, worry) not as an enemy that is crushing you–but as a friend pressing you down to the earth on which it is safe to stand and where you are supported?
Could you, just for this moment, imagine that this feeling is reminding you to look around and ask, “Am I safe? Am I okay right now?” To look for the support that is always available?

Today’s Intention: Letting the uncomfortable bring you to the truly deeply comfortable truth: you are safe.

With tenderness,

Jen

P.S. More about the Palmer interview here.

A question for you: This interview is an example of the resources I’m compiling for the Comfort Queen’s 2009 Virtual Retreat “Very Comforting Resource List.” Do you have any books, retreats, websites, podcasts, audios, ETC. that you find helpful in managing fear, overwhelm, anxiety, uncertainty? If so, send them to jenATjenniferlouden.com so I can share your amazing finds. Thank you!
